Three people in hospital after second fire rips through flats in Pollokshields

Three people were hospitalised after a fire broke out in Glasgow.

Fire crews raced to Melville Street in the Pollokshields area of the city on Monday evening.

The blaze ripped through a four storey block of flats on the road at around 7pm.

The news comes a week after a building was destroyed in nearby Albert Drive.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service told the Record on Tuesday that the fire had been extinguished.

The condition of those taken to hospital is yet to be confirmed.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesman told the Record: "We were alerted at 6.58pm on Monday November 18 to a report of a dwelling fire at Melville Street in Pollokshields, Glasgow.

"Operations control mobilised four appliances where crews were met with a fire in a four storey building.

"Three casualties have been transferred into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and firefighters remain in attendance."
