Three people hurt as firefighters free victims from two-car crash in West Calder

Three people have been hospitalised after a car crash in West Calder.

Emergency services raced to two-vehicle smash on the A70 near Crosswoodhill Farm Holiday Cottages at 2.30pm on Sunday.

A man and woman were trapped in one motor while a second woman managed to get out of another vehicle.

Firefighters used hydraulic cutting gear to set the man and woman free.

All three were rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary , one by air ambulance and the other two by road ambulance.

Their condition is unknown.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) spokeswoman told the Record: "We were called to a two-vehicle accident near Crosswoodhill Farm Holiday Cottages at 2.30pm.

"Two adults, a male and a female, were trapped in one car.

"Another female self-released from her vehicle.

"Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to release the man and woman from the first vehicle.

"They were both taken to Edinburgh Royal infirmary, one by air ambulance and the other by road ambulance.

"The second woman was also taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. "SFRS is unable to confirm the condition of the three people."
