Three people arrested after suspected firearm and ammunition seized in Limerick

Three people were arrested after a suspected firearm and ammunition was seized in Limerick last night.

Gardaí from the Divisional Drugs Unit searched a house in Fairview Crescent in Garryowen on Tuesday night at approximately 9pm.

The search operation is part of an ongoing investigation into suspected criminal activity in Limerick city.

During the search, officers seized a suspected gun, pellets and shotgun cartridges, €200 worth of suspected cocaine and three mobile phones.

A garda spokesperson said: "The firearm and drugs will now be sent for analysis.

"Two men (30s and 60s) and a woman (40s) were arrested at the scene and brought to Henry Street Garda Station.

"They are currently detained under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act, 1939."
