Three people and a dog saved from Loch Lomond after kayak capsized in dramatic water rescue

Three people and a dog had to be pulled from the water after their kayak capsized on Loch Lomond at the weekend.

The incident unfolded at around 12.50pm on Sunday.

Three people, aged 17, 18 and 31, had been on the water just south of Sallochy Bay, between Balmaha and Rowardennan, when the watercraft overturned after being hit by a wave.

The volunteer crew from the Loch Lomond Rescue Boat (LLRB) were called out as well as the Coastguard.

LLRB launched and made their way to the reported area where the location of the persons in the water was marked by the Coastguard.

The crew recovered two females and a male as well as the dog from the water. They were all transferred to Sallochy Bay and handed over to Scottish Ambulance Service personnel to be checked over.

All three, as well as the dog, were uninjured.

National Park rangers later recovered the capsized kayak and returned it to land.
