Three out of four Sex And The City stars return for new TV show 'And Just Like That'

Sex And The City is set to return for a new chapter with a new name.

Three out of the four stars, Sarah Jessica Parker (SJP), Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis, will star in the new TV series, And Just Like That.

Actress Kim Cattrall, who played man-eater Samantha, won't be part of the reunion.

This time around, fans will see their characters Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte in the “even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s”.

SJP last night shared the trailer of the new show to her 6.4million Instagram followers, featuring shots of bustling New York.

Words, typed out by her writer character, read “and just like that .. the story continues”.

The US actress posted with it: "I couldn’t help but wonder… where are they now?”

Sex And The City, which ran from 1998 to 2004, also generated two films, including Sex And The City 2 which was ridiculed by critics and fans alike.

Plans for a third movie ground to a halt after Kim indicated she was not interested.

SJP later said she was “not sure if I can imagine doing another movie without her”.

Now she has told a fan on Instagram: “Samantha isn’t part of this story. But she will always be part of us, no matter where we are or what we do.”

HBO Max said the series would be “a new chapter of the groundbreaking …. Sex and the City… starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.”

The series is based on the book Sex And The City by Candice Bushnell, and the original TV series created by Darren Star.

It “will follow Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.”

The 10-episode series will begin production in New York in the late spring.

Sarah Aubrey, HBO’s head of original content, said: “I grew up with these characters, and I can’t wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humour and the beloved city that has always defined them.”
