Three new coronavirus symptoms recognised in official list - including a runny nose

American disease experts have added three new symptoms associated with coronavirus to their official list.

As well as the three main symptoms recognised in the UK, the CDC has added a runny nose or congestion, nausea and diarrhoea to its list of symptoms often associated with Covid-19.

Also included on the CDC list is fatigue, muscle or body aches, headaches and a sore throat, Wales Online reported.

The current symptoms for coronavirus are a high fever, a new and persistent cough and a sudden loss of taste or smell.

The Scottish Government advises anyone who develops any of these three symptoms to book a test immediately.

The CDC says that this list does not include all possible symptoms, and will continue to be updated.

After it was revealed the virus may have been in Scotland as early as February, the new symptoms could indicate whether you have already had it.

However, experts have warned that they are unsure how much immunity previous exposure to the virus provides, and the Scottish Government have advised NHS health boards not to provide on demand anti-body tests.

It comes as Edinburgh University public health expert Professor Linda Bauld warned that without a vaccine or effective medication, our only way of battling the virus was with data.

Prof Bauld previously told MPs in the House of Commons that the virus had done 'appallingly badly' in its handling of the virus.

“In terms of excess mortality, I think Spain is the only country in Europe that’s slightly ahead of us.

“We have not handled this pandemic well, in any part of the UK," she said.
