Three new coronavirus deaths in Merseyside region's hospitals

Three new coronavirus deaths were reported in hospitals covering our region.

After yesterday's news of no covid-19 deaths being reported across the region's Trusts, we have sadly seen a slight rise in today's figures.

There is often a lag in reporting deaths over the weekend and those recorded today will not have all happened in the past 24 hours, but this is when they have been officially published.

The latest deaths include one each at the Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust and the St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust.

There was also an additional death at the Trust covering Halton and Warrington.

The current numbers for Covid-19 deaths at Trusts in the Merseyside region are as follows:

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Royal, Aintree, Broadgreen): 458

Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust - 235

Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust - 4

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust - 4

Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - 130

Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust - 19

Merseycare NHS Foundation Trust - 3

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust - 146 (+1)

St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust - 2 06 (+1)

The Walton Centre - 10

The latest figures come as Merseyside and the rest of the country prepares for the most significant lifting of the lockdown restrictions yet.

Speaking in Parliament this lunchtime, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a range of changes to the lockdown, including reducing the distance that people must keep apart from two metres to one.

He also announced that from July 4, pubs, bars, restaurants, cinemas and museums will be able to reopen and that two households of an unlimited number will be able to meet and stay with each other indoors and out.
