Three new coronavirus cases in Lothians as total rises to 60 across Scotland

There are three new confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the Lothians, with 60 found throughout Scotland, the Scottish Government has confirmed.

Elsewhere, there are a total of 10 confirmed patients with the virus in Glasgow, four in Tayside and three in Fife.

The latest numbers of coronavirus in Scotland are published by the Government daily at 2pm.

A total of 2892 tests have been conducted in Scotland since the start of the outbreak, meaning there had been 2832 negative tests.

Scottish secretary Alister Jack told BBC Radio's Good Morning Scotland this morning that the public should prepare for "major changes" as the pandemic can no longer be contained.

He said that instead the focus would now be on delaying the number of cases for as long as possible to assist the NHS.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has also said there is a "big question mark" over large gatherings like football matches.

Rather than because of concerns about transmission, the first minister said police and ambulance resources required at such events could be better used elsewhere.

The Scottish health secretary previously warned that NHS Scotland could face staff absence rates of up to 30 per cent during the crisis.
