Three men suspected of murdering a man after storming into his Kirkby home were today named by police.
Thomas Edmunds, 36, suffered a serious head injury after two men burst into his home in Clorain Road around 10.30pm on Sunday.
Mr Edmunds, known as Tommy by his family, was taken to hospital where he died on Monday morning, May 10.
Today Merseyside Police said they had charged three men with his murder.
A spokesperson said: "Detectives investigating the murder of Thomas Edmunds in Kirkby have charged three men this morning, Thursday, 13 May.
"At around 10.30pm on Sunday, emergency services were called to an address in Clorain Road following reports that males had entered the address, before they left short time later and the occupant was found unresponsive.
"The victim, Thomas Edmunds, was taken to hospital where he sadly died on Monday."

Naming the three murder suspects, the spokesperson added: " "34-year-old Terence Bennett of Sovereign Hey, Croxteth, has been charged with murder.

The men have all been remanded in custody to next appear at Wirral Adult Remand Court this morning.
A fourth man, aged 38, arrested in connection with the incident has been released under investigation.
The development comes after Mr Edmunds' family released a poignant tribute saying he had "so much to live for."
Sharing a photo of Thomas, known by many as 'Tommy', his family described him as "the life and soul of the party."
In a statement they said: "Our Tommy was loved by everyone.
"He could not enter the room without making everyone smile. He was the life and soul of the party.
"We cannot express how devastated we are as family.
"He was a young man with so much to live for, his life has been cut short. We will miss him so much.
"As a family we have taken comfort from the lovely response from the community and thank them all for all their support.
"Tommy will be sadly missed but never forgotten."
A post mortem examination yesterday confirmed that Thomas died of asphyxiation.
Types of asphyxiation include strangulation, choking or smothering.
The attack is believed to have been targeted, police said.
