BHUBANESWAR: Three people lost their lives in separate incidents in Odisha's Angul and Bolangir districts on Sunday during heir morning walks, according to the police.
In Angul district, two people met with a fatal accident when they were struck by a vehicle, and in Bolangir district, another person suffered a similar fate.
The victims were identified as Rajesh Sundhi and Madab Kumar Samad, close friends who were hit by a speeding vehicle on NH 49 near Muktapur in the Pallahara police station area of Angul district, as reported by a police official. A case of unnatural death has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing.
In a parallel incident in Bolangir district, a tribal youth was fatally struck by a speeding pick-up van near Gedabanjhi Chhak, according to another police officer. The victim, identified as Purusottam Bhoi, was a class 12 student who was on a morning walk with four of his friends when the accident occurred.
Following the tragedy, local residents expressed their anger by staging a road blockade, disrupting traffic between Bolangir and Patnagarh. Police promptly arrived at the scene to engage with the agitated locals and restore order.
