Three more people with coronavirus have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals

A further three people have died at Greater Manchester's hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus.

The region's hospital death toll now stands at 2,169, latest NHS daily figures show.

In the last 24 hours, two coronavirus-related deaths were recorded at the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

One death was recorded at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust.

Nationally, 15 new deaths of people with coronavirus in hospitals have been announced.

The patients were between 27 and 95 years old and all had known underlying health conditions, NHS England said.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Tuesday, August 25 is:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 230
  • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9
  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 451
  • NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6
  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 567
  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 6
  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 182
  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 227
  • Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 225
  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 13
  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 253

Each day the NHS in England publishes the number of deaths recorded by each hospital trust in the last 24-hour period.

These are deaths where the person had tested positive for the virus or where COVID-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS England's daily figures sometimes include previously uncounted deaths that took place several days - or even weeks ago.

They do not include deaths in care homes or community settings.
