Three more children have been hospitalised with coronavirus in Ireland, new figures show.

The latest update from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre shows that three youngsters under the age of 14 were brought to hospital with Covid-19.

Two of the children were between the ages of 5-14, while one was under the age of 4.

The incident was notified to the HPSC on Monday of this week.

Health officials have not revealed the exact age, location or gender of the patients.

Their current condition is also not known.

In total, 91 children under the age of 14 have been hospitalised with Covid-19 since the pandemic began here.

One toddler under the age of four was brought to ICU, and they were the youngest patient here admitted to intensive care.

Meanwhile the HPSC statistics also show that another person has died in Ireland after contracting Covid-19 abroad.

The sad death was reported to health officials last Tuesday.

It brings the total number of deaths from imported cases to seven since the start of the pandemic here.
