Three more charged over Gold Coast stabbing death

Police at the scene of a fatal stabbing at the entrance to Cavill Mall in Surfers Paradise.

Three more people have been charged over the killing of Raymond Harris, 27, on the Gold Coast's glitter strip on Wednesday night.

Police allege Mr Harris was stabbed to death on Cavill Avenue at Surfers Paradise around 9:00pm.

Two other men — Jarod James Miller, 21, from Tinana, near Maryborough and Jye Sebastian Webb Italia, 18, from Pimpama — appeared in court yesterday, charged with murder and assault.

Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith said yesterday the group was allegedly known to the victim.

He said it was a tragic incident.

"Prior to the actual incident, there was a bit of an altercation between the victim and the offenders," he said.

Police have now charged 24-year-old Surfers Paradise man Kyle Jack Webb with murder and three counts of assault.

His case was mentioned briefly in Southport Magistrates Court on Friday afternoon, but he did not appear.

Mr Webb was remanded in custody.

He and fellow accused Jye Sebastian Webb Italia are brothers.

Police also charged Gold Coast woman Amy Anne Ackerman, 19, and Rocklea man Zaynn Bekker, 32, with accessory after the fact to murder.

Their cases were mentioned briefly in Southport Magistrates Court on Friday afternoon.

Only Ms Ackerman applied for bail, which was conditionally granted.

All five people charged in relation to the killing of Mr Harris will return to court on October 15.

'Of concern to everyone'

Police Minister Mark Ryan welcomed the news of the additional arrests.

"I am very pleased that police have made some arrests in this matter," he said.

"Crime that is particularly violent and has tragic outcomes is of concern to everyone."

Police are reviewing CCTV vision of Cavill Avenue, and have appealed for witnesses who may have seen or filmed the fatal attack to come forward.
