Police have arrested three more people after a dad was stabbed to death in West Derby.

Police confirmed the man was taken into custody and is being questioned by police.

A 29 year old man and a 17 year old woman from Liverpool were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. They are also in custody being questioned.

Earlier this week two women, aged 20, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Extensive forensic and witness enquiries into the incident remain ongoing as detectives continue their investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Lee Wilkinson said: “Although we have made three arrests today we would still like to hear from anyone who has not yet spoken to police who was in attendance at a house party on Princess Drive in the early hours of Sunday morning where Paul Stenson sadly lost his life.

“Please don’t assume the fact others have come forward means you shouldn't – every single piece of information could prove essential to understanding what happened, finding who was responsible and securing justice for Paul’s wife and children.”

Paul Joseph Stenson, from West Derby, died after being stabbed in the chest on Sunday, December 19.

Known locally as 'Paul Mac', the 30-year-old was taken to hospital from Princess Drive, West Derby, but he died a short time later.

The dad-of-two was a tree surgeon who 'loved the outdoors' and was 'well known' in the local community.

His family issued a statement through Merseyside Police, they said: "Paul was a hard-working and loving father. He leaves behind his son, daughter, mother and wife who he has been with for more than 15 years, they had been together since school and practically inseparable.

"As a Tree Surgeon our Paul loved the outdoors and was well known in the community as Paul Mac.

"Wherever he went someone would recognise and chat with Paul.

"His loss will leave our family devastated this Christmas and in the years to come."
