Three more AAP MLAs for Bhagwant Mann as CM face in Punjab

BATHINDA: Amid pressure being exerted by supporters of Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann to have him declared the chief ministerial face of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab, three party MLAs have extended support to the move.

Bathinda Rural MLA Rupinder Kaur Ruby, Barnala MLA Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and Nihal Singh Wala MLA Manjit Singh Bilaspur on Tuesday rooted for making Mann, who is AAP’s Punjab president, the party’s CM face for the 2017 assembly polls. Earlier, Kotkapura MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Mehal Kalan MLA Kulwant Singh Pandori had made the same demand.

There are nearly a dozen active MLAs of AAP in Punjab.

Mann’s supporters have been running a social media campaign for Mann. Some of them reached Chandigarh with the demand on Tuesday, after marching on foot from Ludhiana.

Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal had announced that a Sikh will be made party’s CM face.

Earlier, Hayer, who is considered close to party’s Punjab unit co-incharge Raghav Chadha, had come under criticism for not supporting Mann on social media.

Ruby posted a photo of her and her husband with Mann on Tuesday to extend supporr. Bilaspur, in a post on Tuesday evening, wrote: “We want Bhagwant Mann as our leader and we want him to lead us further.”
