People who own a shower curtain have been issued a three month warning as the item could become a breeding ground for harmful bacteria.
A 2021 study tested three shower curtains and surveyed more than 500 people. The analysis detected more than 60 times more microbial life on shower curtains than toilet seats.
The findings suggested the shower curtain is the dirtiest part of most bathrooms.

Interior experts from Online-Bedrooms.co.uk have shared how often a number of common household products need to be replaced to avoid a "germ infestation", with different items needing to be changed more or less often than others.
Shower curtains, they say, should be replaced every three months. This is due to the excess amount of water hitting the material, which leads to mould growth due to the heavy moisture conditions.
Experts add: "It’s best to swap these out every three months as there’s only so much mould spray can do to stop its growth."
Bed sheets, according to Online-Bedrooms, should be replaced every two years, while chopping boards and protective phone screens should both be swapped on an annual basis.
