Three million Brits are considering pulling a sickie on Monday to watch Game of Thrones

More than three million Brits are considering having a sick day so they can stay up to watch the latest episode of Game of Thrones.

The first episode of series eight airs at 2am on Monday, April 15, and fans are seeing it as more of a priority than their jobs.

Research by Culture Trip found more than 3,131,000 people are considering pulling a sickie to see what happens in Westeros and the Seven Kingdoms.

Those aged 16-24 are most likely to ring in with a fake ailment, with 18% of generation Z admitting to it.

The show returns to Sky Atlantic for its final season on Monday. If you want to watch the show at the same time as those across the pond, you will need to stay awake (or set your alarm) for 2am in the morning and tune in on Sky or Now TV.

If you aren't a night owl or extreme early riser you will need to stay away from the internet and catch up at 9pm.

There are only six episodes in this series, and the longest episode will be a huge 80 minutes long.

The first episode is only 54 minutes, though, so if you are waking up in the middle of the night to watch, it won't be so bad.

The final episode will air on May 19.
