Three Michigan State athletes test positive for COVID-19 in latest round of testing

Michigan State University completed another round of COVID-19 testing on July 13 with 38 tests yielding three positive results.

According to the school none of the three athletes had been participating in workouts. One was quarantined, one was in isolation, and one had just arrived on campus. These student-athletes will be quarantined for two weeks and cannot return to activities without a negative test. The three roommates of the athletes who tested positive will also be quarantined for 14 days under the school’s protocol.

In addition, 27 staff members were tested on Monday with one positive test. This is the first staff member to test positive for the disease since testing began. According to the school the staff member does not work with any of the teams already back on campus and has had no contact with any student-athletes.

In total Michigan State has tested 506 athletes, coaches, and staff members since the beginning of June, with eight total positive tests.
