Three men have been taken to hospital following a shooting in Lancashire.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene on Belfield, Skelmersdale, at around 1.30pm this afternoon.
North West Ambulance Service confirmed that three people had been taken to hospital, including one who had to be airlifted.
One resident told our sister title the Liverpool Echo that the area was "swarming with police".
The Echo reports that one victim was shot in the chest and shoulder - but this has not yet been confirmed by Lancashire Police.
Two road ambulances, an air ambulance, a heart specialist team and several police vans are among the emergency services currently at the scene.
A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said: “As it’s a police led incident we are limited in the information we can give the media but we can confirm that we were called to the scene at 1:24pm earlier today.
“We sent two road ambulance, an air ambulance, two advanced paramedics, one heart team specialist, and one operational manager to the scene.
