Three men suspected of baseball bat attack in East Belfast arrested by police

Three men suspected of an assault in East Belfast on Sunday night with baseball bats have been arrested, police say.

The PSNI said they received a report at around 10:20pm on April 19 that a man had been assaulted by a group of men in the Paxon Street area.

Three men aged 20, 25 and 31 were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing an offensive weapon.

Sergeant Jenny Foster said: "The man suffered injuries to his face, arms and his chest.

"The three remain in custody at this stage.

“Our enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who may have seen a silver Renault Megane in the area at the time, or anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has information which may assist our investigation to call us on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference 1646 of 19/04/20."

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
