Three men charged with the murder of Michael Jeffrey Purse have been remanded in custody after a brief court appearance.

Edwin James Hinrichsen, 36, David Graham Young, 39 and a 24-year-old man — whose identity was suppressed by the court — are accused of murdering Mr Purse, who was last seen in the Adelaide CBD in February 2019.

Police have previously said they believed the 32-year-old was lured from the Adelaide Casino to a unit on Churchill Road in Kilburn and then murdered.

They believed his body was put into a green 2000 Daewoo Lanos hatchback, which was later captured driving north of the city by traffic cameras near Globe Derby Park.

Mr Purse’s body has never been found.

The three men were arrested on Wednesday in Adelaide, Northfield and Prospect.

They made no application for bail and were remanded in custody.

The matter returns to court in September.

In a statement, Mr Purse’s family said they hoped the arrests would lead to the recovery of his body.
