Three men charged with breaking lockdown rules and beating duck to death

Three men have been charged with flouting coronavirus lockdown rules and beating a duck to death.

Police were called to Hardwick Park, near Sedgefield, County Durham, just before 6pm on Thursday to reports of a group attacking ducks with sticks.

One man was arrested outside the visitor centre while a further two were detained following a short search.

Officers found a dead mallard and a second injured bird, which was taken to vets and is hoped to fully recover.
