Three men have been charged after a police officer had her head stamped on and another knocked unconscious during an attack.
The two officers were on their way to another incident when they came across a large group of men fighting on Long Street, in Middleton.
They stopped to intervene and were assaulted.
The male officer was punched in the head and knocked unconscious, while the female officer was punched, dragged to the floor before her head was stamped on.

Both officers were taken to hospital, but have since been discharged and are now recovering at home.
Three men have since been been charged in connection with the incident.
Jonathan Cottrell, 34, of Reesdale Road, Moston, has been charged with actual bodily harm, assault by beating and violent disorder.
Lee Herbert, 29, of Longford Street, Heywood, has been charged with actual bodily harm and violent disorder.
Liam Baker, 23, of Gilmour Street, Middleton, has been charged with violent disorder.
All three have been remanded in custody.
They are due to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Monday, December 23.
