Three men charged as part of investigation into young dad's murder

Police have today charged three suspects in connection with the murder of Patrick Boyle.

Mr Boyle was shot twice in the chest in a street attack on Newway, just off East Prescot Road in Huyton on July 1.

The 26-year-old dad was believed to be alone in the street when he was shot in what police suspect was a targeted attack.

He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Today, Merseyside Police confirmed three men were arrested and have now been charged in connection with Mr Boyle's murder.

Ben Doyle, 24, of Lyme Grove, Huyton was charged with murder, possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life and possessing ammunition with intent to endanger life

Thomas Walker, 20, of no fixed abode was charged with murder, possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life and possessing ammunition with intent to endanger life.

The 20-year-old was also charged with possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm without a certificate and possession of ammunition without a certificate

Reuben Murphy, 25, of Oak Avenue, Newton-le-Willows was previously charged with murder in September and has been remanded in custody since.

He was also charged with possessing a handgun, possession of a firearm without a certificate, possession of ammunition without a certificate, possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life and possessing ammunition with intent to endanger life.

All three will appear at Wirral magistrates court tomorrow, Friday 19 November.
