Three men charged as part of Encrochat investigation

Three men were charged in connection with serious and organised crime offences.

The charges relate to arrests made yesterday (Tuesday) at two addresses in Ellesmere Port and an arrest at a train station in Crewe.

Each of the arrests all took place as part of an investigation into the use of encrypted mobile devices, commonly referred to as Encrochat.

Among those arrested was James Webb, after detectives from the Serious and Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) raided an address in Raby Court.

The 30 year-old man has now been charged with conspiracy to supply class A and B drugs.

Two other men who were arrested yesterday as part of the same operation have also now been charged.

Joe Bowen, 30, of Wavertree Court, Ellesmere Port, was charged with conspiracy to supply cocaine, heroin, amphetamine and cannabis.

Tom Riley, 29, of Princes Road, Ellesmere Port, was charged with conspiracy to supply cocaine, heroin, amphetamine and cannabis.

All three were remanded in custody and were due to appear at Chester Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, May 12).
