Three men break into woman's home as she slept during 'brazen' burglary

A woman has been left 'shaken' after a group of men broke into her home while she slept and demanded money from her.

Police are appealing for witnesses for the aggravated burglary that took place on Christopher Street in Wigan on Tuesday 29 March 2022.

The victim was asleep when three men, one armed with a hammer, broke into her home by smashing the rear patio doors of the property.

The men then made their way to her bedroom where they confronted her and demanded money.

Detective Constable Pilling, of GMP’s Wigan District, said: “This was a brazen incident that has left the victim understandably shaken, and we want to ensure we find those responsible.

“We’re appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious to come forward and speak with police.

"Did you see any of the three men or see anyone acting suspiciously around the time? We are keen to speak to anyone that has information that could help us find those responsible.”

Anyone with information should contact Wigan CID on 0161 856 7101, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or make a report via the GMP website, quoting crime reference number: CRI/06LL/0009146/22.
