Three men battered in Glasgow city centre sparking huge police probe

Police are appealing for information after three men were assaulted in Glasgow.

The group were battered in the city centre at around 12am on Sunday morning.

Police were called to a report of a disturbance in St Vincent Street, near to its junction with Renfield Street.

A 29-year-old man was rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary with a serious facial injury. His current medical condition was not disclosed.

Two other men, aged 27 and 30, suffered minor injuries and did not need treatment.

A probe is now underway to hunt those responsible and "establish the exact circumstances" behind the incident, and the force have urged witnesses to come forward.

Detective Inspector Barrie Kirkland stressed that information can be passed anonymously.

He said: "Enquiries are continuing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident.

"The area would have been busy at this time and we are appealing to anyone that may have information that could assist with our investigation to come forward.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting reference 0390 of May 8, 2022.

"Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."

It comes after a separate four people were arrested and charged following an alleged rammy in Glasgow city centre.

Cops raced to Gordon Street, near Glasgow Central Station, after the alarm was raised at around 4.35pm on Friday.

Four men have now been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged incident.

They are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.
