Three men arrested in connection with murder of dad of two shot in chest

Three men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a dad of two who was shot in the chest.

Officers were contacted just after 5.55pm on Thursday, July 1 following reports Patrick Boyle, 26, had been shot in the chest in the street in Newway, Huyton.

The dad was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Today, Merseyside Police have released an update and said three men were arrested in connection with the murder of the 26-year-old.

A 24-year-old man from Huyton and a 20-year-old man, of no fixed abode, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to possess firearms.

And a 25-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to possess firearms and ammunition.

All three men have been taken to police stations for interview.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "Detectives have arrested three men in connection with the murder of Patrick Boyle in Huyton in July.

Officers were contacted at just after 5.55pm on Thursday, July 1 following reports the 26-year-old had been shot twice in the chest in the street in Newway.

"He was taken to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

"A 24-year-old man from Huyton was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to possess firearms

"A 20-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to possess firearms

"A 25-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to possess firearms and ammunition.

"All three men have been taken to police stations for interview."

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Hurst said: “This continues to be a complex and challenging investigation and it’s pleasing to see these arrests. All men will now be questioned.

“Our investigation continues and I would still urge anyone with information to come forward, either directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers, and we will continue to take appropriate action.”
