Three men arrested after police found saw, hammer, axe and crowbars in van

Three men have been arrested after police found a saw, hammer, axe and crowbars in the back of their van.

The trio are being held on suspicion of going equipped to steal.

Police said they discovered the men in a van parked near to a business in Manchester city centre, on Tuesday evening.

When the driver saw the officers he attempted to drive away.

Police searched the vehicle and found the tools in the vehicle.

Greater Manchester Police City Centre team shared an image of the items on their Facebook page.

A message said: "PC S and PC A came across three males in a van looking suspicious near a nearby business in the City Centre this evening.

"When the driver spotted the police vehicle he attempted to drive away. All males searched and the below was found in the vehicle.

"All three males then detained for going equipped to steal.

"Good work to PC A on his first arrest since joining GMP as a student officer."
