Three men were arrested after armed gardai found a firearm at a homeless hostel in Dublin city.
Two men in their 20s and one in their 30s were detained following a search at a premises on St Stephen's Green.
Officers from Pearse Street District Detective Unit were assisted by the Armed Support Unit in the operation, Dublin Live reports.
A garda spokesman confirmed investigations into the incident are ongoing.
He said: "Gardaí have arrested three men and seized a firearm in an operation led by Pearse Street District Detective Unit, assisted by the Armed Support Unit and local Gardaí.
"The firearm was discovered when Gardaí carried out a search at accommodation on St Stephen's Green this afternoon, Tuesday 28 July 2020, at approximately 12:30pm
"The three males (one 30s, two 20s) are currently being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at Pearse Street Garda Station."
