Three men are dead and three murder investigations are underway after horrifying weekend of violence

Three murder investigations have been launched following a weekend of violence in Greater Manchester.

Three men died in Timperley, Bury and Levenshulme over the weekend as emergency services attended a number of serious incidents across the borough.

And as the murder probes continue, police are also investigating a shooting in Wigan that saw gunshots blasted at a house and a spate of 'violent incidents' across Brinnington that saw groups of men wielding weapons and cars damaged.

Man, 35, dies after being 'punched' outside bar in Bury

Emergency services were first called out in the early hours of Saturday (July 8) to Silver Street in Bury. Police and paramedics raced to the scene at around 4.25am, where a man was found injured outside a bar.

The 35-year-old victim, now named as much-loved dad Piotr Ludwiczak, was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries as police cordoned off the road and an evidence tent was erected. However the following day, Sunday (July 9), it was confirmed Piotr had died in hospital.

Police said enquiries suggested Piotr had been 'punched' before then falling to the ground. A 19-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday (July 9), with detectives continuing to follow a 'number of lines of enquiry' into the attack.

Detective Superintendent and Head of GMP’s Major Incident Team, Chris Bridge said: “A murder investigation has been launched to understand the circumstances surrounding this man’s death. My thoughts are with this man’s loved ones who have suffered an unimaginable loss from this tragic and unacceptable incident."

Following Piotr's death, a tribute issued on behalf of the family said: "Piotr, also known as Peter, was loved by his family and friends. He had a giant personality and loved making people laugh, he certainly made his partner and young son smile every day.

“Piotr was well-liked by everyone he met, both in the UK and Poland. He was a gentleman, always keen to lend a hand to anyone who needed help."

'Frail' man in his 80s dies after being found in 'critical condition' in house

Tragedy struck again on Sunday afternoon (July 9) as emergency services swarmed a quiet residential street in Trafford. Police and paramedics attended reports of a 'domestic disturbance' at a semi-detached house on Riddings Road.

A man in his 80s, described by neighbours as 'lovely' and 'frail' was found in a critical condition. He was rushed to hospital from the scene but died a short while later.

Police immediately launched an investigation, as an evidence tent was put up outside a house that had also been cordoned off. Forensics could be seen going into the property with the scene remaining in place overnight.

Greater Manchester Police have arrested a 50-year-old man on suspicion of murder and he remains in custody for questioning. Detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the attack.

Detective Inspector Lee Shaw from GMP’s Major Incident Team said: We have launched an investigation to piece together the full circumstances surrounding his death. I have no doubt that the community are shocked and are worried to hear the news about the death of the man, but I would like to reassure them that this is an isolated incident and at this stage, we are not currently looking for anyone else."
