Three masked men with knives tried to rob a Newark shop.
They demanded money but left empty-handed after being challenged by the shopkeeper at SKM Convenience Store, in Beacon Hill Road.
The incident happened at 8.49pm on Saturday (April 27).
The shopkeeper's wife and eight-month-old child were also in the store at the time.
Nottinghamshire Police are appealing for information.
A spokesman said: "Officers have been making enquiries in the area and have stepped up patrols.
"Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information that could help the enquiry, is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 840 of 27 April 2019, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
