Manchester City have agreed contract extensions with promising youngsters Lewis Fiorini, Ben Knight, and Cieran Slicker.
Fiorini, a 19-year-old midfielder that has worked his way through the age groups at the academy, spent last season on loan at NAC Breda where he impressed in a team that painfully missed out on promotion to the Dutch top flight courtesy of conceding an 89th-minute goal in the play-off final. The Scotland youth international has signed a four-year extension that keeps him at the Etihad until 2026, although he has already headed to League One side Lincoln to spend next season there on loan.
Slicker, another in the Scottish youth ranks, has agreed a one-year deal that extends his contract until 2024. The goalkeeper has been at the club for a decade and stepped up to be part of the Under-18s side that won the 2019/20 FA Youth Cup final at St. George's Park in October before playing 12 games for the Under-23s and keeping three clean sheets.
City paid £1m to Ipswich to secure the signing of creative playmaker Ben Knight back in 2018, and the playmaker was one of several players to flourish last season under the guidance of Enzo Maresca and Danny Walker in the Under-23s, scoring five and assisting four for a goal involvement every 92 minutes. Knight, 19, has signed a three-year extension to tie him to the club until 2025.
The club are closing in on the appointment of a new Under-23s coach after Maresca left to join Parma this summer.
