Three Man City players react to Stefan Ortega after debut vs Borussia Dortmund

Three Manchester City have sent encouragement to goalkeeper Stefan Ortega after the goalkeeper made his debut for the club in Tuesday’s Champions League stalemate with Borussia Dortmund.

The summer signing enjoyed a clean sheet on his first outing for the Blues as City secured top spot in Group G. Riyad Mahrez missed yet another penalty in the contest after Erling Haaland went off at half-time, suffering from a "fever".

Pep Guardiola had rung a number of changes to the starting XI with Kevin De Bruyne benched while Julian Alvarez was handed his fourth start of the season. Ederson dropped out of the line-up for the first time, with Ortega making his City bow.

Taking to Instagram after the match, the German revealed his delight at making his first Blues and Champions League appearance. “A very special moment for me today!” he said.

“First competitive game for @mancity and my first game in the @championsleague - a moment I’ll truly never forget.” A trio of City team-mates reacted to his post.

Manuel Akanji - who came on at half-time for the unwell Joao Cancelo - commented with two raised hands emojis, while Aymeric Laporte, who also started on the bench, posted two clapping emojis.

Late substitute Jack Grealish excitedly wrote: “YAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRR” along with clapping hands and loveheart-eyes emojis.
