Three Liverpool stars named in ex-Everton man's Premier League team of the decade

Three Liverpool stars have been named in a BBC Sport pundit's Premier League team of the decade.

Former Everton man Kevin Kilbane has picked his 11 best players to have graced the top flight in the past ten years.

Luis Suarez was selected to lead the line with current Reds Andy Robertson and Virgil van Dijk both at the back.

Manchester City are the best represented team in Kilbane's side with four stars making it in, followed by Liverpool with three.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane left behind as Liverpool's fastest player is revealed

Man United keeper David de Gea lines up in goal, with City legend Vincent Kompany and Everton's Seamus Coleman completing the defence alongside Van Dijk and Robertson.

Chelsea's N'Golo Kante sits at the base of a diamond-shaped midfield with City duo David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and former Spurs man Gareth Bale ahead of him.

And in attack, Suarez is partnered by City talisman Sergio Aguero.

Explaining the selection of Van Dijk, Kilbane told Off The Ball: "If I am looking at his performances over these last 18 months, it's transformed the team.

"I don't think any one player has made a difference to one side than Van Dijk has made. Absolutely phenomenal. He's done well at Southampton as well - I think Van Dijk is a better player [than John Terry]."

Kilbane said it was a tough choice at left-back, and admitted: "I could have gone with [Leighton] Baines, but I have gone with Robertson. Standout performances. This season with his creativity and his assists as well.

"Simply brilliant. His performances over these last few seasons have taken him beyond Baines - I think he's taken full-back to a new level. He is now the benchmark."

And on his decision to go with Suarez next to Aguero, Kilbane said: "Imagine those two together as a pairing. Suarez nearly took Liverpool to the title with his performances and level of consistency.

"He is that little bit of class."
