Three left out raise eyebrows as Steve Bruce keeps the faith - Newcastle team news

Steve Bruce made just one change to his starting line-up to face Everton at Goodison Park when he recalled Javier Manquillo to replace Isaac Hayden on the right-hand side of defence.

Bruce is believed to have selected the team but the tactics have been tweaked in conjunction with new coach Graeme Jones.

The selection looks like a return to a five-man defence against the Toffees but Callum Wilson started the game with Ryan Fraser to his side and Miguel Almiron was also involved to weigh in attacking wise.

There was no sign of DeAndre Yedlin, linked with a move to Galatasary, while Matt Ritchie, who is wanted by Bournemouth was also absent.

Bruce also left out Sean Longstaff with the midfielder said to be fully fit but out of the head coach's thinking at the moment.

UNITED : Darlow, Manquillo, Hayden, Schar, Lascelles, Lewis, Hendrick, Shelvey, Almiron, Fraser, Wilson

Subs : Dubravka, Krafth, Clark, M Longstaff, Anderson, Saint-Maximin, Gayle, Joelinton, Carroll
