Three persons died on the spot and two children are battling for life with severe injuries as a van and a two-wheeler, on which the five persons were traveling, collided on GMC Balayogi bridge across river Godavari in I.Polavaram police station limits in East Godavari district on Sunday. The bridge connects Edurlanka in the Konaseema region with Yanam of the Pondicherry Union Territory.
According to SP M. Raveendranath Babu, the deceased have been identified as Vydadi Kumar (35), his wife V. Padma (30), and his ten-year-old son V. Harsha Satya Varma.
The condition of the injured
V. Harshitha (10) and V. Arya (4) are said to be critical. They are being treated at the government hospital in Yanam. All the five persons belong to Guttinadeevi in I.Polavaram Mandal. The police registered a case and the investigation is on. The three dead bodies have been sent to the Amalapuram government hospital for post-mortem.
