Three killed as mini-truck hits tree

Three people died on the spot and 11 suffered injuries when a mini-truck they were travelling in hit a tree near Banavasi in Sorab taluk of Shivamogga district in the early hours of Wednesday. The police gave the names of the deceased as Thimmappa, 45, Yogaraj, 55, and Akash, 15, residents of Tavanandi in Sorab taluk.

They were retuning home after attending the Mari Jatre at Gutnalli in Sagar taluk. The injured have been admitted to the government hospital at Sorab. The negligence of the driver, Hanumanthappa, is said to be the reason for the accident.

The Sorab police have registered the case.
