Three injured in early morning building fire in 22nd floor flat

Three people have been injured in a flat fire in the early hours of this morning in the Knightswood area of Glasgow.

Firefighters tackled the blaze after receiving reports of the incident just before 5am today.

The incident occurred in a property on the 22nd floor on Kirkton Avenue.

Three people were treated by the Scottish Ambulance service, with two people taken to hospital for further treatment.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue service spokeswoman said: "We were alerted at 4.56am to reports of a fire within a flat on Kirkton Avenue.

"Four fire and one aerial appliance were mobilised to the scene where crews extinguished a fire in a 22nd floor property.

"Three casualties were passed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance service, two of which were transported to hospital.

"We have since left the scene."

It is the second fire to occur in Glasgow this morning, with near the Trongate.
