Three injured as tractor and car smash closes road

Three people were injured and a road closed after a crash between a tractor and car this morning.

The smash happened around 6.40am with an ambulance and police called to the scene.

Police confirmed emergency services were called to Long Lane, in Aughton near Ormskirk after a tractor and car crashed today.

Officers at the scene said three people were injured with an ambulance taking one to hospital for treatment.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said two people from the Ford Fiesta were hurt, along with the driver of the tractor.

Pictures show a police car straddling the road to prevent access.

North West Ambulance Service said no-one was believed to have suffered any major injury.

The road remains closed between Parr Lane and Prescot Road, with the car waiting to be recovered and council officials contacted to clear debris from the crash.

A North West Ambulance Service spokesman for NWAS said: "We were called at 6.45am to reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles.

"We sent one ambulance and have taken a patient to hospital. No-one was treated for serious injuries."

Travel monitors INRIX said Long Lane is closed in both directions from B5197 Prescot Road to Parrs Lane.
