Three guilty of murdering father-of-two in Tottenham stabbing

Gregory Castillo Volquez was killed - (Met Police)

Three men have been found guilty of murder after a father-of-two was stabbed to death in Tottenham last year.

Gregory Castillo Volquez, 36, was found injured outside a block of flats on Tiverton Road in Tottenham at around 5am on January 13 2025.

Mr Castillo Volquez, from the Dominican Republic, had gone there after visiting bars with a friend in Brixton and Elephant and Castle the previous evening.

Metropolitan Police officers were called to reports of people fighting with knives in an alleyway.

Benito Ramirez Kones, 20, Carlos Akum Metumbe, 22, of Spain, were convicted of Mr Castillo Volquez’s murder alongside Italian national Luiggi Perelli Santana, 22, following an eight-week trial at Southwark Crown Court.

The three men were known to Mr Castillo Volquez, the Met’s investigation found.

Kones was detained in Swansea five days after the attack and his trainers were found to be covered in traces of the victim’s blood.

Metumbe and Santana were traced to Spain and were extradited by Met officers in August and October 2025, respectively.

Metumbe and Santana were seen on CCTV footage reigning blows on Mr Castillo Volquez with a machete and crutch.

Mr Castillo Volquez was stabbed 22 times, with many of the wounds caused by a long knife, and had bruises caused by a blunt object.

Santana’s bloody fingerprints were found on both the crutch and large knife.

Detective Inspector Jim Barry, who led the investigation, said: “Our skilled team of officers showed huge tenacity to build a solid case with undisputable forensic evidence which resulted in three violent men being taken off our streets.

“It’s this hard work that is enabling the force to secure a positive outcome from 95 per cent of our murder investigations. I hope that this result offers a morsel of justice and closure of Gregory’s family, who have been left without a much-loved dad, brother and son.”

A fourth man, Gabriel Pineda Gonzales, 21, was found not guilty.
