A boat fire northwest of Sydney has left three young girls with burns to their legs.
The girls - aged 10, eight and six - suffered the burns in the onboard fire near Holmes Drive at Cumberland Reach on Sunday afternoon.
Paramedics treated the trio for leg burns, and one who had a facial burn. They were taken to The Children's Hospital at Westmead in a stable condition.
NSW Ambulance Inspector Steve Vaughan says the incident is a timely reminder for people to take precautions when participating in water and boating activities.
"These things can happen in seconds, so it's important we take extra care when we are out and about, especially over the school holiday season," he said in a statement.
It comes after a kayaker died on Saturday after hitting a log and capsizing in the Northern Rivers region of NSW.
The 68-year-old woman was kayaking with friends along a creek in the Tooloom National Park when she fell into the fast-flowing water.
Her body was recovered on Sunday.
