Three games coming to Xbox this week - Tuesday, January 4

It's a new year which means 12 more months of exciting videogame releases to look forward to each and every week.

There are plenty of big releases taking place this year, thanks in most part to the fact that a lot of titles were delayed in 2021.

And while lots of the big releases won't be coming out until the summer period, it doesn't mean you shouldn't be excited for this week's games launching on Xbox.

This week's games include a sci-fi game that aims to teach children about meditation, a new DLC for a popular indie game, and a classic-style RPG with a strange story.

Here's a breakdown of the four games coming to Xbox consoles.

Happy New Year!

The Guardians of Peace

The Guardians of Peace takes place in a distant utopian society where hordes of corrupted beings threaten the peace of the universe.

Players will take on the role of a young trainee paladin, Diego, who must utilise the seven unique energies of the universe to defeat seven hordes of darklings.

This energy must be combined with the advanced technology produced by a society on the brink of collapsing with a focus on harnessing Diego's inner powers through meditation and training.

Dead Cells: The Queen & The Sea

Dead Cells is a game all about learning from your mistakes - when you first enter the game, it probably won't take long for you to die.

Players take on the role of a reanimated corpse who must fight its way through a monster-infested dungeon while earning loads of upgrades and abilities to give an edge in combat.

The new set of DLC for the game, The Queen & The Sea, adds two new biomes for players to experience - The Infested Shipwreck and The Lighthouse.

These new nautical biomes will introduce players to a rotten shipwreck filled with eldritch enemies while The Lighthouse adds new vertical means of exploration and new environmental dangers that will keep players on their toes.

Sword of Elpisia

Sword of Elpsia is a fantasy RPG that tells the story of a young girl who's been mysteriously transformed into a magical sword.

Set in the mystical world of Terra, Aldo must use his new sword to defeat a myriad of enemies as he heads off on a quest that will change his life forever.

Like many RPG maker games, Sword of Elpisia utilises turn-based combat which will force players to strategise and manage their resources before every encounter or risk falling to a wide variety of monsters and other magical creatures.
