Three from Kolkata in Delhi Police net for oxygen fraud

KOLKATA: Cops from Delhi have nabbed three persons on Thursday night from Sarsuna for being allegedly involved with an inter-state gang of fraudsters, who offered oxygen cylinders to Covid patients and demanded a hefty amount in advance on various wallets and later stopped all contacts with the kin of the patients. The three accused, Utpal Ghosh, Utpal Nandi and Soumen Mondal, who are in their early 20s, are being taken to Delhi on a transit remand.

“Prima facie, a probe has revealed that the accused were working with some criminals in Bihar. The Delhi Police arrested them too. During an initial enquiry at Sarsuna police station, the three told cops that they had lent their accounts for Rs 2,000 and that they did not know anything about the criminals. However, the Delhi cops told us about their direct involvement with the crime,” said an officer.
