Three former Michigan State football players try out for XFL

There is a vacuum in the second-tier pro football circuit now that the Alliance of American Football is no longer, and Vince McMahon’s XFL is looking to fill that void with a resurrection of the failed project from 20 years ago. This is good news for football players, as it will provide another place for them to use their skills to earn money in the United States. There are multiple Michigan State alumni throwing their hat into this new league and opportunity.

About a month ago we wrote about Taiwan Jones trying out for the WWE, so it’s not a huge surprise he’d be on their radar for football as well, as that is his forte. He was playing for the Memphis Express of the AAF before that league went under, and was just spotted working out for the XFL’s Houston squad.

Meanwhile, two former Spartan pass-catchers were trying out for the Dallas squad. Keith Mumphrey and Josiah Price were both listed as attending the session at the University of Texas. Mumphrey was released by the Houston Texans after a sexual assault investigation (he recently settled a lawsuit related to that case.) Price was signed by the Vikings after going undrafted in 2017 but never played a game due to injury.
