THREE flood alerts have been issued across parts of Scotland as heavy rain is set to hit the country.
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa), the environment watchdog, issued three regional flood alerts in the west of Scotland on Tuesday.
The alerts are in place across Argyll and Bute, Skye and Lochaber, and Wester Ross.
The flood alerts come after a yellow weather warning for rain was issued by the Met Office on Monday.
The heavy rain has been forecast on the back of two tropical storms, Humberto and Imelda, which have the potential to bring some disruptive weather to Scotland.
A statement from Sepa said: "Heavy rain is forecast for the west of Scotland from Wednesday evening through to the weekend and could see possible flooding impacts form surface water, small water courses and larger rivers throughout the affected areas."
A flood alert is an early indication of potential flooding from rivers, the sea, and surface water, which is issued for larger geographical areas such as local authorities.
It differs from a flood warning, which advises that flooding is imminent and urges people to take measures to protect themselves and their property.
