Three female joggers held at knifepoint by teenage thugs in Greystones, Co Wicklow

Three women were subject to a horrifying ordeal after they were held at knifepoint by two teenage muggers in Greystones.

The shocking incident took place in the Charlesland Green area of the seaside Wicklow village at around 8pm on Thursday evening.

The women were jogging in the area when they were approached by the the muggers.

One of the thugs brandished a knife and demanded the terrified women hand over their wallets, Dublin Live reports.

The women did not have their wallets with them and the thieves instead made off with one of the joggers' jackets.

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live the two teens were later arrested in a follow up operation.

He said: "Gardaí at Greystones are investigating an incident which occurred at approximately 8pm on Thursday, February 20, 2020, three females who were out jogging were approached by two males, believed to be teenagers.

"One of these males produced a knife and demanded their wallets, the injured parties did not possess any wallets or other items, one of the males took a jacket and  then fled the scene.

"In a follow up operation two males suspected of having been involved in this incident were arrested by Gardaí."
