Three Edinburgh restaurants win at prestigious Food Awards Scotland 2021

Three Edinburgh restaurants won top prizes at the Food Awards Scotland 2021.

The award ceremony took place in Glasgow on November 29 and rewarded restaurants for their flavours and how they treat their customers.

This year was the seventh year the awards have been running, after being cancelled last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A number of other establishments won prizes for best takeaways and pub food.

The three restaurants in Edinburgh to win prizes were Hendersons, Pierinos and Novapizza.

Hendersons at Barclay Place was voted as the Best Vegetarian Establishment in Scotland for the year 2021.

The famous Pierinos on Bernard Street in Leith was given the award for the best Family Restaurant of the Year in Scotland.

And Novapizza Vegan Kitchen on Howe Street was voted the best Vegan Restaurant of the Year for Scotland this year.

Other establishments to win were the Edinburgh New Town Cookery School for the best Cookery School of the Year in Scotland.

And another award went to Pierinos for the Best Fish N’ Chips Establishment in South East for 2021.

Woodland Creatures won the best Gastro Pub of the Year South East.

The No 1 Takeaway on Ferry Road won the best Takeaway of the Year South East in 2021 for their Indian takeaway premises.

And the Treehouse Cafe won the best Café/Bistro of the Year South East for the year 2021.

A Spokesperson for The Food Awards Scotland, said: “These awards aim to thank those that work hard within the city’s food industry and contribute to making Scotland a great gastronomic place to visit.

“It is true that Scotland combines tastes and flavours from all over the world and the visitors can find different restaurants, gastro pubs and bistros to meet their needs.

“These people enhance the country’s reputation nationally and internationally, and we would like to make sure that the hard work of Scotland’s food professionals doesn’t go unnoticed.

“It was lovely to be part of this celebration and we would like to congratulate all finalists and winners for their achievements!”
