Three drivers test positive for cocaine at one Dublin checkpoint

Three drivers tested positive for cocaine at one Dublin checkpoint on Saturday night.

In total, seven motorists were arrest for DUI in Dublin City Centre on the Saturday of the Bank Holiday.

Gardai set up Mandatory Intoxicant Testing Checkpoints around the city over the weekend.

An Gardai Siochana tweeted: "Seven motorists were arrested for DUI on Saturday night in Dublin City Centre at (MIT) Mandatory Intoxicant Testing Checkpoints conducted by Roads Policing Units from the Dublin Region - including 3 positive tests for cocaine at one checkpoint alone!"

"The checkpoints were carried out as part of bank holiday weekend high visibility policing operations in the City Centre."

On Sunday night, gardai arrested a driver who tested positive for cannabis in Maynooth.

"Naas Roads Policing Unit were operating an MIT Checkpoint on the R148 Maynooth late last night. One driver tested positive for cannabis. Arrested and taken to Leixlip Garda Station. Blood Specimen Taken and sent for analysis."
