Three Dolphins players that “Madden 20” was overly generous to

Everyone is busy being distressed over how much shade EA Sports and “Madden 20” cast at the players on their favorite teams — but very few have bothered to look into the other end of the spectrum. Which players on your team were mysteriously given a rating that hasn’t been earned on the field yet? A handful of these players reside on the Miami Dolphins — players drafted with promise but who have failed to live up to the expectations that came along with their status as high draft picks.

Here are three Dolphins players who “Madden 20” was overly generous to with their initial player rating.

TE Mike Gesicki – 75 overall

Huh? Gesicki caught 22 balls for 202 yards in 2018 as a rookie — but generally looked overmatched in every capacity of the game. His 50.7 grade from Pro Football Focus in 2018 rated as the 66th best qualifying tight end in football, which his hardly worth a 75 overall. As a matter of fact, even Gesicki’s strengths were weaknesses in year one, as he struggled to get out into space and run routes effectively through contact.

He’s Madden’s 48th rated tight end, which might not be wrong. But a 75 is a very generous score for a player who struggled so greatly as a rookie.

DE Charles Harris – 72 overall

Harris’ first two years have given us any indication that he might be a modest starter — yet that’s what his 72 grade would seem to suggest. One player who looked to wrestle snaps away from Harris last year — Jonathan Woodard — checked in at a 65 overall.

Harris will need to play better this year to justify even the 72 overall.

WR DeVante Parker – 79 overall

If we were to ask you to name the Dolphins’ 6 best players, how many of you are including DeVante Parker? EA Sports is. Parker has always had the physical talent, but at some point being a quality football player has to extend beyond just having the physical skills to do it. Sure, that helps a lot!

But either the ratings skewed too many players below Parker, or Parker is rated too high. Take your pick.
